Health Care During Your Air Travel

Extended air travel or long-distance flights can bring far off destinations near, but along comes boredom, uncomfortable seating and blood circulation problems.

Good blood circulation ensures a comfortable journey. The lymph system must receive constant blood circulation, while traveling by air by using bp monitor. The lymph system is a network of blood vessels and nodes that transmit the fluid to different parts of the body so use rheumatoid arthritis gloves. These nodes produce white blood corpuscles, which are essential to combat any sickness. Your lymph nodes swell up when you are sick, as your body is working overtime to produce its requirements. The lymph does not have a pump to transmit fluid like the heart and therefore, it only relies on the movement of the muscles to maintain the pressure within the system. Lymph fluids help in the improvement of the overall health. They help in blood circulation and when the blood vessels are contracted, the vital contents are squeezed through the contracted vessels. The lymph vessels then collect the leftovers and take them back into the system. They are then transmitted to all the important organs of the body. The lymph system also transmits the white blood corpuscles to the necessary parts of the body. Any part of the body that is injured, damaged or inflated needs white blood corpuscles and the only way to transmit these cells is through lymph fluids. Lymph fluids are only transmitted through muscle movement. In short, it means that you have to move around frequently to maintain the blood circulation throughout the body.

During air travel, movement is restricted for a longer duration, which is very harmful. Sometimes the cabin-crew guides you through this matter, via a preflight talk. To reduce stiffness, fatigue and discomfort during long distance flights, you can try some simple stretch exercises in-flight, as this can help lower the risk of venous thrombosis or clotting of blood. The blood clots are very dangerous as they can sometimes lead to heart attack, seizure or even coma. You can start off by doing some simple exercises like holding your carry bag as close to your body as possible, at a ninety-degree angle and then doing few biceps curls. That should give you a good workout. If you are good at balancing then you can place your carry bag on your ankles and do some leg lifts, so as to reduce pressure on your ankles. A small walk in the cabin can also be relaxing and it helps you stretch your legs. You can also try some hand stretches by placing the palms of your hands together and pushing them as hard as you can. Hold the position as long as possible or hold your arms out flat for sometime, balancing a book on top. Rest for a while and then repeat. But while doing these comfort tricks see that you don’t disturb your co-passengers.

Besides movement, you must drink fluids as much as you can to safeguard yourself from dehydration. Avoid smoking and drinking, as this can affect blood circulation. Avoid crossing your legs while you are seated, as it can stop the blood circulation to your legs. You must wear loose-fitting and comfortable clothes while flying on long distance flights. Compression stockings can help prevent swelling and increase circulation. You should only purchase these after seeking a doctor’s advice.

Airline Reservations and Ticketing Tips

* If your travel plans fall during a busy period, call for reservations early. Flights for holidays may sell out weeks – sometimes months – ahead of time. Don’t buy a standby fare or an ‘open return’ ticket if you need to fly during a high-demand period. You could be stranded for a week or more before a seat becomes available.

* Ask the reservations agent to give you the on-time performance code for any flights that you are considering. This is a one-digit code in the reservations computer that shows how often that flight arrived on time (within 15 minutes) during the most recent reported month. For example, an “8” means that flight arrived within 15 minutes of the scheduled arrival time between 80% and 89.9% of the time. If you are deciding between two flights with similar schedules and fares, you may want to choose the one with the better on-time record. (Only the largest U.S. airlines are required to maintain these codes.)

* When you make a reservation, be sure the agent records the information accurately. Before you hang up or leave the ticket office, review all of the essential information with the agent – the spelling of your name, the flight numbers and travel dates, and the cities you are traveling between. If there is more than one airport at either city, be sure you check which one you’ll be using. It’s also important to give the airline your home and work telephone numbers so they can let you know if there is any change in their schedule.

* Your ticket will show the flight number, departure time, date, and status of your reservation for each flight of your itinerary. The “status” box is important. “OK” means you’re confirmed. Anything else means that the reservation is not yet certain (e.g., waitlisted).

* A “direct” (or “through”) flight can have one or more stops. Sometimes flights with only one flight number can even involve a change of planes. Ask about your exact routing.

* If you are flying to a small city and your flight number has four digits, you may be booked on a commuter airline that has an agreement with the major carrier in whose name the flight is held out. If you are unsure, ask the reservation agent about the airline and the aircraft type; these flights are identified in the computer.

* When a reservation agent asks you to buy your tickets by a specific time or date, this is a deadline. And if you don’t make the deadline, the airline may cancel your reservation without telling you.
* Try to have your tickets in hand before you go to the airport. This speeds your check-in and helps you avoid some of the tension you might otherwise feel if you had to wait in a slow-moving ticketing line and worry about missing your flight.  Using an e-ticket speeds up the process also.

* If your reservations are booked far enough ahead of time, the airline may offer to mail your tickets to you. However, if you don’t receive the tickets and the airline’s records show that they mailed them, you may have to go through cumbersome lost-ticket procedures (see the end of this chapter). It is safer to check the telephone directory for a conveniently located travel agency or airline ticket office and buy your tickets there.

* As soon as you receive your ticket check to make sure all the information on it is correct, especially the airports (if any of the cities have more than one) and the flight dates. Have any necessary corrections made immediately.

* Bring a photo I.D. when you fly, and have your airline ticket issued using your name as it appears on that I.D. Many airlines are requesting such identification at check-in in order to reduce the re- selling of discount tickets. (Airlines don’t permit tickets to be sold or given to other persons.) On international flights, make sure your name is the same on your ticket and your passport. If your name has recently changed and the name on your ticket and your I.D. are different, bring documentation of the change (e.g., a marriage certificate or court order).

* It’s a good idea to reconfirm your reservations before you start your trip; flight schedules sometimes change. On international trips, most airlines require that you reconfirm your onward or return reservations at least 72 hours before each flight. If you don’t, your reservations may be canceled.

* Check your ticket as you board each flight to ensure that only the correct coupon has been removed by the airline agent.

Learning Japanese With Audio – Which Is Best?

Learning Japanese with audio is without doubt the fastest and most efficient way to get started. If you are lucky enough to have some Japanese friends who can help then you are already ahead of the game. In most cases people will look to evening classes at their local college or on the internet for online basic Japanese lessons.

Of course the best way to learn any language is in the country itself. This has obvious advantages but for most of us this is not possible and we have to choose more practical methods of how to learn Japanese.

The more you learn about Japan and its people you quickly realize that they are the masters of efficiency. You would do well to model them in this respect and apply their meticulous methodology to some research which will allow you to begin your adventure in Japanese language study in a way that lends itself to providing maximum returns for the time that you invest in studying.

Ok so we might all admire the Japanese mindset but just don’t have the time or resources to spend on the research, lucky I have done it for you then!

Why study Japanese?

There are many advantages to learning any new language, in this case the growing importance of Japan in the global markets could mean that having some knowledge of Japanese culture and language may give you an edge if you are employed in such areas as tourism, journalism, technology and many other areas of employment or stay at Tokyo capsule hotel or Okinawa hotel.

Of course it would be remiss of me not to mention how incredibly beautiful Japan is itself and how truly fascinating their culture is. Learning how to speak Japanese with a view to visiting the country at some point is in my view enough of a motivating factor and reward in itself.

Although it may seem a daunting prospect if you plan your strategy in advance and put some regular time aside for studying, learning Japanese with audio is achievable. I recently came across a young man whilst researching the subject who’s learn to speak Japanese tips included,”learning Japanese on his palm pilot”.

Having spent a lot of time in the forums and researching the best way to learn Japanese I have come up with the following conclusions.

Learning about the language and culture is best done in Japan itself. If at all possible enlist the help of some Japanese friends. If using Japanese MP3 downloads or inexpensive language CDs, ensure that they come from only the very best sources like the ones offered for sale by Dr Paul Pimsleur, Dr Robert Blair and the publishing house Harper Collins. All have proven track records for learning Japanese online with audio.

Whether your motivation is personal or professional you can be assured that this adventure that you are about to embark on will be truly rewarding. Many scholars have spent their whole lives immersed in the beauty of this language, its people and its culture. You could do a lot worse than choosing to invest some of your precious time in learning Japanese with audio.

Ok it’s probably predictable to say Sayonara (Sa-yo-na-ra). (goodbye)but I’ll add a little as I hate being predicatable

Saying goodbye to a close friend (informal) is said like this “Ja-ne” (pronounced) jar-neigh!

Have fun learning the Japanese language, Ja-ne!

Bali Liveaboard Scuba Diving Vacation

Contrary to what many scuba divers may think, a liveaboard scuba diving in Bali may not necessarily be more expensive relative to conventional scuba diving vacations. As a matter of fact, liveaboard scuba diving, if well planned may even save you money and hassles.

Firstly, you will save a lot of transportation time and costs, such as traveling to your dive operator’s boat and then after your dive, returning to your hotel or resort, lugging your cumbersome scuba diving gear to and fro, then repeating this same process for the next couple of days during your scuba diving vacation in Bali.

Next, you save money from hotel or Bali resort accommodation because since you are living on the liveaboard dive boat, there will be no need for hotel or resort bookings. On top of that, you do not need to hunt for expensive meals in your hotel or resort since all liveaboard scuba diving packages will include meals. This will also mean that you will be probably having very fresh and succulent sea food caught by the crew while you are enjoying your scuba diving.

The highlight of your liveaboard Bali scuba diving vacation is that you can dive in many exotic dive spots instead of the ones near where you stay. This is because you need not return to your resort hotel to retire for the day, the liveaboard dive boat will cruise to far flung scuba diving locations while you are sleeping, again saving you time and best of all, you get to save more money by diving in more dive locations for the same price.

Below is a typical liveaboard Bali scuba diving package offered by quite a few Bali dive operators.

Day One-Visit one of Bali’s most interesting street on the way to Pemuteran & Menjangan North West Bali which will also include a stopover in View Point Restaurant Sanda. Dive Sites: Pemuteran House Reef & Reef Project or Secret Bay in Gilimanuk

How To Get In And Out Of London Via Heathrow Airport

How can you get in and out of one of the most exciting cities on Earth easily? Heathrow is a sprawling and unpleasant airport. Immigration from outside the EU can be a chore. The London transport system can be expensive. Here are a few tips to make the going easier:

Let’s start on the way in. You’ve collected your bags from the carousel, got through immigration and made it into arrivals.

There are various transport options to central London; tube, black cab, mini cab, bus and train.

1. The London Underground, ‘the tube’, is the cheapest, but it can take an hour and a half if your destination at the other side of London. The tube has to stop at every station on its route. It can be crowded. It’s great for short trips, or for commuting to work. For beginning or ending a holiday, it’s wearisome.

2. Black cabs: Black cabs are also very good for short journeys; they are spacious, clean, and the drivers are professionals. They pay a lot of money for their licence, and are tested on their knowledge of London. They can be very expensive. A fee of $120 to get into central London would not be unusual, if the traffic is bad. The meter is running even when you’re stopped.

3. Mini cabs: These guys charge flat-fee fares, so it’s worth finding a few mini cab companies near Heathrow on the internet, and see if you can get someone to meet you in arrivals. They have to be booked in advance. You can’t book them from the airport on the day, as getting into Heathrow and finding you can be a nightmare. Sometimes the customer may not show up, so it’s not worth their time.

4. Bus: I’m not sure I’d use these at all. Being stuck in a traffic jam, in a bus, on a long journey, with the clock ticking is my definition of Purgatory. They’re good for short hops or before the rush hour or late at night. Cheap as chips, but you pay for it in other ways.

5. The train: This is my favourite. There are two train services from Heathrow; Heathrow Express and Heathrow Connect. The first takes fifteen minutes to Paddington, the second about half an hour. Both go to and from Paddington, which is a major terminus in the centre of London. Both are clean, and much faster than the tube. Spend a little more money, and be sure of getting where you want to go on time.

On the way back home, when you board the hotel near in airport in Paddington, you are fifteen minutes from Heathrow. The tube by contrast could take an hour or more. No contest, when you’re fretting about getting checked-in on time!

It’s worth considering whether you can fit all your luggage into one small case, which you can take on board as hand luggage. This means you can leave it until relatively late to check in. (Due to the new security measures, however, you can’t cut it too fine; the queues at departure can be quite long.) Coupled with taking a train to the airport, this can make your journey a lot more pleasant. Plus you don’t have to worry about your luggage going missing!

Online Hotel Bookings Service

The internet has seen a revolution for hotel booking services. Online hotel bookings can make planning your business trip, vacation or weekend away both easier and more affordable. Online hotel bookings make it easy to select a suitable hotel, and are ideal for both the customer and the hotel management. While it once required effort to locate and select a hotel far away from home, the internet has dramatically simplified that process with online hotel bookings. Online hotel bookings enable you to choose a hotel with the features you desire, whether you need a simple and affordable place to stay or a luxurious retreat from day to day life.

It is now possible to find a hotel and book within minutes any time of the day – from anywhere in the world. Convenience is one of the most significant benefits of online hotel bookings. Browse hotels in the area you require at your leisure, comparing features and rates easily. When you have chosen the hotel you prefer, simply complete your hotel booking online at a time convenient to you. Many hotels even allow same day online hotel bookings, great for that last minute weekend away, for example taking in a show in the West End of London.

Pricing is very competitive as it’s so easy to compare one hotel to another. Some services even allow you to conveniently compare multiple hotels when choosing your online hotel bookings. If pricing is your first priority, you may find one of the larger online hotel bookings services ideal. While some such services do not allow you to choose your hotel, but rather to only select location and quality of the hotel, substantial discounts on hotels may be available. If you are willing to allow the online hotel bookings service to select your flight or hotel, the discounts are typically much greater.

Customers may find that online hotel bookings can also offer savings on airline flights, car services, and even entertainment. By packaging your vacation needs, you may save a substantial amount and have additional funds to enjoy on your weekend away or longer vacation.  When planning a trip, take advantage of online booking services to find the best prices on hotels, airfares and more.  These services are ideal for both short and long trips, and may even be a convenient option if you need to book a hotel for visiting guests.

It’s great for hotels as there is so little admin involved and the booking software can be linked usually via aggregators. To remain competitive in today’s travel market, it is critical that hotels offer online hotel bookings. Customers at all levels expect to be able to easily and conveniently book their hotel online. Hotels can choose to manage their own online booking software, and will find that they can affordably purchase such options, or can arrange online hotel bookings through a larger service. Whichever option is chosen, offering online hotel bookings will benefit all hotels, both small and large.

Online hotel bookings are ideal for customers and hotels. Hotels will find that rooms are more consistently filled if they offer online hotel bookings. Online hotel bookings can also reduce expenses and employee time for the hotel. Customers enjoy the convenience and ease of online hotel bookings, as well as the ability to compare prices and features of various hotels. Planning a weekend away has never been easier, or more affordable than it is now with the accessibility of online hotel bookings.  Convenience, competitive pricing, and easy comparison shopping make online hotel bookings popular with nearly every customer, from those planning a long vacation to those in need of an affordable weekend away.

Use Hostel Accommodation If Travelling On A Budget

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

You might think of hostelling as something that college students do while traveling through Europe for the summer. However, hostelling is not just for the college crowd anymore, and now includes people of all ages and backgrounds. If you are a traveler on a budget, staying at a hostel can be an adventure that will add to your travel experience.

Staying in a hostel will not be everyone’s cup of tea, and many travelers would prefer to spend the money on a traditional hotel. Hostel traveling is best suited to those traveling alone, or to young people traveling in groups. Hostels are not really recommended for families traveling with young children. In fact, many hostels do not accept children under a certain age.

Most hostels are set up like dormitory rooms, with several bunk beds arranged in the room, with anywhere from four to ten bunks per room. Each traveler is assigned a specific bed upon check-in.

Nearly all of the hostels in the United States group their accommodations according to gender, with the female guests in one section of rooms and the male guests in another. In multi-level hostels, males and females are often separated by floor.

It is not uncommon, however for European hostels (and those elsewhere around the world) to allow mixed genders to share a room. Make sure to ask about the policy of the hostel before you check in. I, as a woman traveling solo, have never encountered a problem with these arrangements, and I have stayed in hostels throughout Europe, including Rome, London and Amsterdam. Some visitors might be surprised or offended by these sleeping arrangements.

The bathroom accommodations at hostels differ also, with some rooms containing a shared bathroom and shower, while other hostels will have shower and bathroom facilities located in the hallway. If you would prefer not to share a bathroom with strangers, make sure you ask about the hostel’s policy ahead of time.

More often now, reservations are becoming increasingly vital at hostels, especially during the summer months in popular cities. It is now not at all unusual for hostels in popular tourist cities to be booked solid for months, where once it was common for travelers to be able drop by the hostel and expect to get a bed.

Price is by far the biggest appeal of staying at hostels. The nightly rate for a hostel is usually no higher than $25 or $30 per night, with most costing even less. With the average hotel room costing somewhere around $100 to $150 in many cities, it is easy to see why hostels are becoming such a popular alternative.

Another benefit of staying in a hostel is that the staff is extremely accommodating and knowledgeable about the local area. Unlike many staff members of some luxury hotels, who travel in from the outlying areas and rarely see the city in which they work, hostel staff tend to live in the city, and have an personal knowledge of the local sites, including which attractions are can’t miss and which ones aren’t worth the trip.

Hostels also usually have access to discounts and coupons for local area attractions and restaurants, and they can provide information on the best restaurants and hangouts around.

While not everyone will find a hostel appealing, and the accommodation of a local hostel are simple at best, they can be wonderful options for lodging for the budget minded traveler. After all, the goal of travel is to get out and see the world, and hostel travel lets you save money on lodging so that you can do just that.

Accommodation Travel Tips For New Travellers

Accommodation Travel Tips

BEFORE YOU GO

Do a hotel research on the net looking not only for the cheapest rates but also considering the amenities and services provided, location, possible references from other people. Travel guidebooks can also be very helpful for choosing the hotel that suits you best. Be as much flexible with your trip schedule as possible. For example, business class hotels often have lower weekend rates.

As soon as you reserved the room(s) online, document all information about the hotel(s). The easiest way is to print out the whole page off your computer screen so you will have a clear statement that you can use as evidence in case of misplacing or incorrectly entering your information by a hotel clerk. Take a copy with you, make another one for your relatives so they will know when and where you are going to stay so they can contact you in emergency cases.

WHEN CHECKING-IN

Learn the proper check-in and check-out times. Confirm the amenities and services the hotel provides. Ask for directions, a local map. Get a card with the hotel’s name, address and phone number so you can show it to a taxi driver or a passer-by in the street if you get lost.

Some hotels may provide extra services that you may not know about unless you ask for it:

– laundry service,
– hair dryers,
– voltage converters/ adaptors,
– newspaper service,
– complementary meals,
– access to fax machine, copier, printer, computer, Internet connection,
– cable TV, rental movies, video games,
– portable beds, baby cribs,
– complementary shuttle service to airport,
– rental safe for your money, jewellery, documents,
– telephone access charges,
– fees for using mini-bar,
– guided tours, excursions.

AT THE HOTEL

Safety should be a priority for everybody and you have to take some precautions. We devoted a whole separate page to travel safety including hotel safety measures so we will skip this part here. When you go out for the day, leave your key at the reception desk. Confirm closing time. Some hotels do lock up at night and you’re expected to keep the key if you stay out late.

BEFORE LEAVING YOUR HOTEL

Check out your room for left-behind items. If you need extra time for staying over the regular check-out time (usually it ranges from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m), make a request in advance or the hotel may charge you an additional night.

Review the hotel bill making sure that all charges are accurate.

We wish you a successful and safe trip!
